On 13th of November 2016, all English teachers in Mersing were required to attend CEFR (Common European Framework of Reference) cascade training that was held for a week at Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Temenggung Ibrahim (IPG TI) in Johor Bahru.

A week course of cascade training gave exposure to all teachers to what CEFR was all about. Rumors said it is going to be implemented into the education system by 2018. That means all teachers were urged to know and familiarize themselves with CEFR.

To me, CEFR is quite similar to PBS style of grading but it is an international level and system that emphasizes more on what the child can do rather than looking at what the child cannot do.

During the course, we enjoyed ourselves very much, sometimes we had group task and some presentations even some of the lecture sessions were  quite a dull and boring ones. (Sorry master trainers, I was just being honest ;).

at the opening ceremony after the registration.
All the staffs here were so helpful and treated us nicely along the course. Thank you :)

Some materials that were given to each participant during the course. It reminds me so much of my university life. :)

Some nice environment at the campus.

The hostel where we stayed for a week.

The place where the lecture session was held and all the activities and events took place here.

The campus' field.

The signboard. pretty much acted as my alibi that proved i was here for a week :)

every beginning has and ending, so let's bid goodbye.
Zillion thanks to KPM and Cambridge English for organizing this cascade training. It allows us to have more understanding on what CEFR is all about. Even I still have doubt on it, I try to clear u my mind and will try to adapt the CEFR style of grading into my teaching later on.
Sooner or later it is going to be implemented into our education system so by hook or by crook, all teachers need to be expert in this.

Keep it up teachers!!!

Closing ceremony.
Since the closing ceremony was held on 17th November, it was a scary date for most English teachers, especially those teaching UPSR in 2016. It was the day everyone was waiting for. UPSR result was announced on this meaningful date. Therefore, the closing ceremony was held earlier than planned since most of teachers requested to go back to school to see their UPSR kids. What to do, wherever we go, we always have that kind of teacher heart. :)

so hopefully all participants could set up in house training at school when they returned school to let all teachers know and understand the CEFR thingy.
